Mission
Administer all Section 8, multifamily housing within the State of Ohio fairly, accurately and completely; and in a manner that fosters continued partnership with property owners/agents and acknowledges AHSC's commitment to the attainment of HUD's programmatic objectives for the performance-based initiative.

History and Partners
On April 4, 2000 the US Department of HUD announced its award for Contract Administration for the project based, Section 8 program within the State of Ohio to the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority.

The award is part of a landmark management reform plan called HUD 2020, under which HUD outsourced its contract administration responsibilities to qualified public housing agencies that can achieve the programmatic objectives of:

• Calculating and paying Section 8 rental subsidies correctly.
• Administering project-based Section 8 HAP Contracts consistently.
• Enforcing owner obligations to provide decent housing for eligible families.

Under the terms of the award, the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority entered into a partnership agreement with CGI to establish and manage the performance-based contract administration initiative; and, in turn, CGI entered into subcontract agreements with nine housing authorities to perform local management review and follow-up activities.

AHSC assumed contract administration duties on September 1, 2000.  The State of Ohio award is the third largest in the United States serving over 970 properties and 70,000 families.
